How do I apply for admission to the PhD programme at the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM)?
Candidates are requested to upload electronic copies of the following supporting documents via NTU’s on-line Graduate Application System. Documents uploaded must be in English. Otherwise, they must be accompanied by certified translations in English language.
- Passport’s personal particular page / Identification card
- One recent passport-sized colour photograph
- Academic transcripts and certificate for Bachelor degree
- Academic transcripts and certificate for Master degree
- 1000-word research proposal, with bibliography
- Artistic Portfolio
An original and creative piece of work related to the proposed research area. It could be a drawing, computer animations, short films, etc.
- Scholarly writing sample
It could be an undergraduate essay, Master thesis, or a published / unpublished article
- Report from 2 academic referees
Before you provide the name and email address of your referees, please ensure that they had already agreed to fill out the online referee report form for your NTU application.
- Personal statement
A short essay on your aspirations and why you identify ADM as the place to pursue your PhD TOEFL/IELTS Score (if applicable)
What are the TOEFL requirements for ADM's PhD programme?
Non-native English speakers should have a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based). Candidates with a undergraduate or Masters degree from an institution where the language of instruction is English, are exempted from taking the TOEFL
How many intakes does ADM have for the PhD programme and when does the application commence?
ADM has two intakes per academic year, they are in August and January respectively.
Admission for the August intake ends on 30th November and admission for the January intake ends on 30th June.
